Brio in Tarifa

Even at the beachside in Tarifa you can have a wonderful pure plants meal. Just outside the old town, along the beach you find Brio tucked away between two beach clubs. Brio is a mediterranean style tapas and light meal place: bio, vegetarian, vegan and fair. And delicious!

The concept

Brio was founded by a group of likeminded people. Create a place that does well for the planet and the people. In a light space filled with plants and light wood, the kitchen is open all day, for tapas and full meals. Using all local and bio ingredients, and the suppliers are clearly listed on the blackboard. Brio champions local wines. This is a great honest place to relax after a day of kitesurfing or walking. Nothing pretentious but very tasty. Solodiners were taken good care off!

What to order?

This simple menu carries some nice surprises. We tried and loved the Panzerotti. Like a large empenada made of lovely flaky whole-wheat dough. With various fillings, we took the one with the ‘to die for’ mushrooms, leeks and provelone (8,00 euro). Or the ‘fruity’ salad that combines fruit and vegetables of the season and can be topped with 24 months old organic provelone. (10.50). For mains a timbale of black rice with kiwi, Brussels sprouts and tahini sauce, on a zucchini’s cream and a dish of homemade tempeh, served with roasted vegetables. Yummie. (summer 2024)

Brown food, love it, love it: panzarotti
